About.
Miles Johal is an Abstract Artist based in Devon. His style of painting is very much contemporary, focusing on the use of vivid, vibrant colours and texture to create his dramatic pieces. Miles works out of his studio from which he ships his paintings to collectors all over the world. Outside of the studio Miles enjoys immersing himself in nature, often found exploring the moors of Dartmoor to find new inspiration or serenity.
Artist Statement: "The underlying tone to my work is abstraction. What that means to me is, there is not a heavy reliance on forms that we may perceive with the naked eye in the world around us. In my landscapes and seascapes, the use of known forms is most prevalent, and in my pure abstracts, the least. So sometimes you may recognise in part what you are perceiving, and other times you may have no conception whatsoever. The goal of an abstract artist in my view is to take you beyond what you know and provide a taste of something you haven't quite seen before."
"When I paint there is not a great deal of thinking involved. There are basic foundational methods that are required and a few rules to follow, but for the most part the action of painting is done very much in the present moment, without thought. Whilst there may be a loose idea to begin with of what the painting is going to look like, its full form is revealed as the painting progresses and new things can manifest at any time."
"Creating a painting could be called a spiritual practise, in order to create something that has power within it, one must be totally present during the process and have no attachment to potential outcomes that may occur. I have found that if this is practised correctly, things will come together and the creativity will flow from within, which ultimately is where I perceive creativity comes from - beyond our reality of form."
Testimonials.

"Miles was extremely prompt, approachable and professional during our commission experience. Before work started, he clearly outlined the process and worked with us to establish what we were looking for in the painting. Miles kept us updated throughout the whole process, which lasted about 8 weeks from initial enquiry to receiving the final painting. We were particularly pleased how Miles took into consideration all of our feedback and explained in detail the answers to our many questions about the painting process. The painting was carefully packaged for transit and arrived in perfect condition on a high quality canvas. We would definitely recommend the commission process to others." -Natasha, London, commission painting 'The Creation Of Form'

“Purchasing art without seeing the painting in person can be a daunting prospect but when we saw “Breaching Tide II” we thought it was worth the risk. From the moment we bought it online to the time it arrived, Miles was in regular contact with us to ensure we were kept updated on progress at every step. Once it arrived we were blown away by the painting which was even more beautiful than we had anticipated. “Breaching Tide II” is a powerful piece full of light, texture and atmosphere. I will definitely be purchasing another soon.” -Gwen, Ireland, 'Breaching Tide II'

‘'Ever since I first shared a classroom with Miles almost 20 years ago, I noticed his artistic prowess. Miles always had the eye for creativity and never failed to put the rest of us to shame in the art room. I’m incredibly happy to be buying a piece because firstly the artwork he is producing is amazing and really caught my eye. But secondly will remind me every time I look at it, of great times gone by over the years.'' -Ben, Devon, UK, 'Light From The Heavens'

‘'Having followed Miles on X for some time with another shared interest I was introduced to his art. I know little of art, but his work felt approachable, fascinating and open to my own interpretation. 'Formless' I see as an expression of disruptive energy colliding and emerging. You can spend time studying it and see something different many times and more if you pay attention to the texture in the paint. There are few things in life you can keep and enjoy forever; a piece by Miles is one of them. From start to finish Miles let me know what was happening re packing and shipping and the process was faultless. Looking forward to commissioning my own piece to add to Formless.'' -Dave, Nantwich, UK, 'Formless'
